Graham Windeatt

Graham is considered as one of Australia's greatest distance swimmers. At 16 years of age in 1970, he was selected to represent Australia at the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games, winning Gold in the 1,500m.

    Beginnings

    Graeme was born and educated in the district and resided in Marco Avenue, Revesby. He commenced swimming as a 6 year old with Bankstown Amateur Swimming Association.

    In 1971, while still at high school Graham would cement his international swimming reputation when he set a World Record for 800M Freestyle of 8.28.6 at the NSW Combined High Schools' (CHS) Swimming Championships held at North Sydney.

    Achievements

    Following the Munich Olympic Games he took up a swimming scholarship to the University of Tennessee. During his time at the University he became an All-American and with the team won Conference Championships and placing in National Collegiate championships.

    Graham would continue to wear the green and gold for Australia from 1970 to 1976 when he attended the Montreal Olympics.

    Graham would become known for his cutting edge knowledge in sports science, physiology and junior development. Graham is the founder of the online coaching/educating program for 11-17 year-olds that he developed with other sports specialists over the past seven years at a personal cost of $3.6 million.
