Village festival grants are now available
It takes a festival to bring together a community.
A new grants program, offering up to $25,000, is now available to help Canterbury-Bankstown community groups hold fete-style festivals with entertainment, performances and stalls.
Applications for the Village Festival Grant Funding Program are now open to community groups interested in hosting a free events in their local town or village centre.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said the program was a great opportunity for groups who want to host events for the community.
"It's time for a street party in our suburbs!" Mayor Asfour said.
"Our small village centres, from Belmore to Bass Hill, have great character and community and it's time we had a party close to you.
"We're looking for organised and committed groups who want to deliver for the community, and Council will provide a dollar for dollar contribution up to $25,000 to make your event happen.
"We want people to be proud of their suburb and bring people into our local mum and dad shops as well. I'm looking forward to see community ideas come to life."
Applications close 5pm, Friday 16 July 2021. To apply, visit cb.city/VillageFestivalGrants
