Beginnings
Denise Beckwith, a long-time local of the Bankstown area, began her international swimming career representing Australia in 1992. Over the course of her career, she competed at various levels, swimming in events ranging from the 50m freestyle to the 200m freestyle and was a member of the women's 4x50m medley 20-point relay team and the 4x50m freestyle 20-point relay team.
Achievements
Denise Beckwith competed internationally for Australia from 1992 to 2000. At the Sydney Paralympic Games, she was a member of the women's 4x50m freestyle 20-point relay team, which won a bronze medal. Her contributions extended beyond competition, as she attended and spoke at over 500 events promoting the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games throughout New South Wales and visited over 450 NSW schools to promote the Games. Denise is recognised as the 568th Australian Paralympian selected.
