Drug and Alcohol Prevention

Substance abuse can impact on the lives of many Australians and their families

It can be a difficult issue to tackle as the issue concerns both the user and the wider community.

The Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF) supports Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs) - a group of volunteers across NSW, who work together to minimise and prevent the harmful use of alcohol and other drugs in their neighbourhoods. The team addresses drug issues by developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships between a range of local services.

There are two CDATs in the City of Canterbury Bankstown:

  1. Canterbury Community Drug Action Team
The groups meets on the first Monday of each month at Canterbury Leagues Club (26 Bridge Road, Belmore).
For more information, contact Council's Community Safety and Crime Prevention Officers on 9707 9212 or 9707 9471
  2. Bankstown Community Drug Action Team
This group meets on the second Thursday of every second month.
For more information, contact the Bankstown CDAT Chairperson on 9796 2930.

The City of Canterbury Bankstown continually works in partnership with local youth organisations to deliver drug and alcohol education to at-risk young people in a suitable manner.
