Chris Mortimer was the youngest of the three famous brothers to play for Canterbury during the late 1970s and 1980's. 'Louie' was a robust centre who later moved effectively into the forwards at lock and was a member of Canterbury's premiership winning sides in 1980 & 1984-85. He also enjoyed success at representative level playing eight matches for NSW in 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1986.

Beginnings
Chris was born in the district in Yagoona, however the family would relocate to Wagga Wagga and he would attend Kooringal Primary and Mt. Austin High. In 1979, Chris started the season in first grade but was injured and became a regular member of the reserve grade team. In 1980, Chris was a regular member of the first grade team and played in the Premiership winning team against Easts.
Achievements
Mortimer played 192 first grade games for them from 1978 to 1987. He was a member of the Canterbury premiership winning teams in 1980, 1984 and 1985.
Chris would tour with the Kangaroos in 1986 and make his only Test appearance in the match against Papua New Guinea on the way to England. His toughness, steel and defence were all very important during NSW's State of Origin series victories in 1985-86.
Post Representation
In 1988 he moved to Penrith where his experience was used by coaches Ron Willey and Phil Gould to mould a champion team. In 1989 Mortimer captained Country Origin before making his last appearance for NSW.
