Allan Dutton

Allan showed early promise as a champion cyclist when he won the NSW under 19 years Men's Road Race Championship in 1955. He would carry the Bankstown Sports club flag with distinction when he won the iconic Goulburn to Liverpool Cycle Race in 1982 - after being in retirement.

Beginnings

Allan was educated in the Bankstown district living at Cardigan Street, Bankstown East. His cycling career began as a member of the Canterbury Districts Cycling Club which was the only Amateur Club in the Canterbury and Bankstown Municipalities. The club name has since been changed to Bankstown Sports Cycling Club of which Allan is a life member.

The Dutton's have a wonderful sporting legacy. Father Allan Dutton competed at the Commonwealth Games and his son Brett was a member of winning 4000m Teams Pursuit at Edinburgh in 1986 and they received a bronze at 1988 Seoul Olympics.
