April School Holidays

School students and families will be spoilt for choice these school holidays as CBCity opens a huge range of FREE activities for everyone to enjoy.

More than 50 local events and activities will be held over the April school holiday period for those aged 3-25 years.

Mayor Khal Asfour said adults can also join in the fun, as the school holidays coincidentally take place on the eve of CBCity’s jam-packed Youth Week and Seniors Festival celebrations.

“This time last year we had to stay home, but this time we have so many reasons to celebrate, so we’re going big, and we’re doing it in style,” Mayor Asfour said.

“We’ve turned the classic Monopoly board game into a fully immersive experience, by letting people use their own smartphone to complete fun challenges around the City – on a recreated life-sized Canterbury-Bankstown edition.

“We’ve also got programs that encourage intergenerational learning and bonding between youths and seniors.”

The Belmore Youth Resource Centre Open Day Party, which features a food truck, ice cream bar and live music, will also showcase the best of what’s available across Council’s facilities.

“Bankstown Arts Centre’s painting workshop, run by artist Heli Yang, who’s work is currently on exhibition at our Arts Centre, will give community members a great opportunity to learn directly from her too,” Mayor Asfour said.

“And our Libraries have everything from craft activities, to educational robics coding workshops and classic games such as Dungeons and Dragons, to keep all ages busy and entertained these holidays.”

Community members are also invited to celebrate 200 years of Greek independence by thematically decorating Easter Eggs the Greek way.

“I’m so proud of our City and the different ways we can come together to celebrate. I’d encourage you to join our school holiday program activities, with so many more free programs on offer that are bound to make it memorable for the whole family,” Mayor Asfour said.
