Rosemary O'Brien

Rosemary first came to prominence as a bowler when she won the Australian Pairs in 1972 and in 1981. She achieved national selection in 1982 when Rosemary as one of only three bowlers was selected to represent Australia at the XII Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. This was the first time female bowlers were allowed to compete.

Beginnings

Rosemary came to the district in 1963, residing at Burns Road, Picnic Point and then moving to Talinga Avenue, Georges Hall. Her membership of the Picnic Point Bowling club would span her bowling career including State and Australian Representation.

Achievements

Rosemary would win 3 Australian Titles over the years.

Post Representation

Rosemary continued to play bowls and is a major contributor to Column Eight Letters to the Editor at the Sydney Morning Herald.
