12 Sep 2024

Fire & Rescue NSW is planning to conduct a controlled burn in the bushland near Lansdowne Reserve 19-57 Henry Lawson Drive, Lansdowne in the vicinity of Hazel Street, Georges Hall and Lucinda Avenue Bass Hill on Thursday 12 September to Friday 13 September 2024.

Please note that there will be varying degrees of smoke, hot embers and heat generated from the fire, therefore it is suggested that you consider:

  • Closing all windows and doors to keep smoke out;
  • Removing clothing from your clothesline;
  • Protecting or removing items which may be affected by hot embers, smoke or radiant heat (eg. outdoor furniture, pool covers, plastic items, plants, watering systems, pets);
  • If you are affected by smoke, please consider your comfort and avoid being outdoors during this time; and
  • Keep pets inside or give consideration to other safety measures for your pets where bringing them inside is not possible.

Bushfire fuel reduction is necessary to protect life and property in our community, as
well as native flora, fauna and the environment from the extreme effects of summer
bushfires.

If you experience any problems arising from this burn, call:

  • Council's Bushcare Coordinator, Paul Angel, on 9707 9000; or
  • NSW Fire & Rescue's Bushfire Officer, David Ince, on 0439 846 655.
