Peter Tunks

Peter was a brilliant ball playing forward who was as tough as they come. He was a very important part of the Bulldogs when they were known as the entertainers. He continues to contibute to the sport as a Radio comentator.

Beginnings

Although Peter was not from the District he attended Marcellin College, Randwick and in 1984 Peter joined Canterbury to become a regular prop for the next six seasons. In 1984, Peter played for NSW before playing in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.

Achievements

A member of the Bulldogs' teams that won premierships in 1984-85 Peter played in 6 Tests for Australia (each against NZ). He decided to see out his career in English club football. Tunks played with Salford and Sheffield Eagles (both 1990) before taking on a captain-coach role with Oldham.

Post Representation

In 1995 Peter became the CEO for Wakefield Trinity. Then in 1996-1997 he was the Managing Director of Hull F.C. In 2012 Peter then became a commentator on “Talking Sport” Programme on Radio 2SM.
