Peter's sporting prowess materialised very quickly and he represented NSW in the Australian Championships in 1965 as an 11 year old. In 1971 he would represent Australia in the Trans Tasman Competition in New Zealand. In the same year Peter would win the Australian Championship at 17 years of age.

Beginnings
Peter was born and educated in the district. He resided firstly in North Terrace, North Bankstown and then in Picnic Point Road, Picnic Point. He commenced Wrestling with Bankstown Police Citizens Boy's Club in 1965 aged 11 years and came second at the NSW Titles representing Bankstown Police Youth Club in the same year.
Achievements
In 1969 Peter won the Australian Junior Championship in Melbourne and was selected in the team to participate in the Trans Tasman competition. During 1971 Peter was selected to represent NSW on the R.S.L. Youth Clubs inaugural visit to NZ. At the Australian Championships held in Perth during 1971 he won the Australian Senior Championship aged 17 years.
