Kevin Goldspink

A member of a famous footballing family from the South Coast, Kevin Goldspink played in the 1967 grand final for Canterbury before gaining selection for the Kangaroo tour. The hard-working second-rower played in 13 matches on tour but did not appear in a Test match.

Beginnings

Kevin joined Canterbury in 1963 as a lock forward and was able to secure a regular first grade position midway through the season when Heinz Blume was injured. He was to become a regular first grade player for the next seven seasons

Achievements

Some of league's biggest stars were serving police including Kevin who wore the green and gold along with the blue. Goldspink later captain-coached Collegians in the Illawarra competition after serving two seasons with Easts.

Post Representation

On retirement Kevin would continue to coach regional teams in rugby League and Surf Life Saving. In 1975 under coach Goldspink, the entire North Surf side (North Wollongong Surf Life Saving Club) was selected to represent Illawarra second division to play the Group 10 representative side and won 19-11.
