Karl was the Australian Champion from 1966 to 1970 winning gold in 100m & 200m Backstroke and the 200m and 400m individual medley.

Beginnings

Karl born and educated in the district and resided in Lambeth Street Panania. While attending Panania Primary School he would win the Harold Hardwick Memorial Trophy in consecutive years, 1962 and 1963, for the 100 Metres Boys State Primary Schools Open Championship.

Achievements

In 1967 Karl would smash his seventh record and win his fourth individual title at the NSW Swimming Championships and was a member of North Cronulla Surf Life Saving.

Post Representation

Karl would retire and live in Canada after his marriage.
