Karen Dalton

Karen Dalton is an Australian Basketball superstar who has represented her country on 252 occasions including the 1984 Opals team that was the first women's basketball team to represent Australia at an Olympic Games.

Beginnings

Karen attended University of Sydney, was a member of the Sydney Flames, and would play a record 375 games for the club. From 1982 to 1988 she would represent Bankstown and in 1982 the team won the Australian Women Club Championships.

Achievements

She participated in four World Championship campaigns, two Olympic Games and almost 40 tours over her 14 year international playing career before becoming an Assistant Coach with the Opals for the 2004 Athens Games and winning her second Olympic Silver Medal.

Post Representation

Karen has been a specialist teacher in personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) at high school level. Following the Athens Olympic Karen has continued to coach the Sydney University Flames for eight seasons as head coach and continues in 2012 to coach the next generation of promising Flames.
