Joy consolidated her position as national Indoor Bias Bowls champion over a period of 4 years from 1978 to 1982. She would successfully represent Australia in New Zealand for 6 years from 1978 to 1983.

Beginnings
Joy came to the district in 1949, residing in Brancourt Avenue, Bankstown. As a member of the Association of Indoor Bowls Joy won 2 Ladies Triples and the Australian Championships in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981.
