Join the Mayor’s Lights Out Sleepout!

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek is hosting a sleepout at Belmore Sports Ground to help raise funds and awareness of people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness

6pm Friday 8 August - 8am Saturday 9 August 2025

$37,114 raised as of 11 August
Our total goal is $35,000

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek is challenging business CEOs, community organisations, local schools, community leaders and members of our community to brave the cold and help raise funds to tackle homelessness by supporting his third annual Lights Out Sleepout.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have thrown their support behind the Sleepout again as the host venue and all funds donated will go to three charities tackling homelessness in our City.

There are many ways that you can support this event.

Create a fundraising team

We’re better when we work together! After you've registered to sleep out, you can create a team to fundraise for the Mayor’s Sleepout. Rally together with your workplace, sporting team, school, family or any group to raise money for homelessness in Canterbury-Bankstown.

To create a team so you can share your fundraising page with family and friends, go to the Mission Australia website here. Make sure you use this link so that your efforts are included in the Mayor’s Sleepout donation tally.

Donate to the cause

The sleepout is supporting three charity partners: Mission Australia, Maronites on Mission Australia and Brothers in Need. You can donate to any of these charities, using their Mayor’s Sleepout donation page, to help support this fundraising event.

Mission Australia

Mission Australia helps the Canterbury-Bankstown community thrive. Funds raised will help secure safe and affordable housing for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Canterbury-Bankstown.

Early intervention and prevention is at the heart of our work as we pursue our vision of an Australia where all of us have a safe home and can thrive.

Brothers in Need

Brothers in Need is dedicated to nourishing souls and uplifting communities.

This campaign will support and strengthen our Homeless Outreach Program and Mobile Food Pantry, which provides consistent support to marginalised groups, offering freshly made meals, desserts, fruits and pantry items to those in need.

Maronites on Mission Australia

Maronites on Mission Australia (M.O.M) is a Christian, charitable and voluntary organisation which endeavours to bring the words of the Gospel to life.

This event will support our home visits program, designed to prevent homelessness. We support over 50 families in the Canterbury-Bankstown Local Government Area, most of whom come from many ethnic backgrounds.
