Geoff excelled in many sports during his school years. In 1981 he began playing Volleyball and early success saw him concentrate on this sport. In 1982 he was selected to represent Australia at 15 years of age in the under 17 and under 20 teams. He continued to wear the green and gold overseas and in Australia until 1991.

Beginnings
Geoff was educated in the district, residing in Pobje Avenue, Birrong and represented the Bankstown District in Soccer, Athletics and Volleyball. At 14 years of age, Geoff would begin playing Volleyball and throughout his school days at Birrong High he created records for High Jump and Hurdles and a premiership for Volleyball.
Achievements
In 1984 he represented Australia in the Australian Games held in Melbourne and was part of the team that won gold against China. Geoffrey's future in Volleyball changed when could not achieve his greatest ambition when Australia failed to qualify for the Olympic games. He went on to be named in the All American Team for the 1992 Olympics.
