In 1980 Gary, at 16 years of age, represented Australia at the Arnhem, Holland Paralympics. He continued to wear the green and gold in 1988 while travelling to Hong Kong, New York., Indonesia and Nashville, USA.

Beginnings
Garry would be born and raised in the district and reside in Bishop Street, Revesby. He would be educated at Revesby Public School and Sir Joseph Banks High School. Gary was an outstanding swimmer who represented Padstow Indoor ASC in both disabled and able bodied competition. 1979 he would win all National Paralympics Events and the Western Suburbs Award “Most Outstanding Athlete”.
Achievements
In 1980 he held thirteen World Records with the Amputee Association. In 1984 at the Mandeville Paralympics he set 4 World Records.
Post Representation
In recognition of his sporting achievements Garry would be awarded an OAM.
