Located in the heart of Bankstown, The Bryan Brown Theatre and Function Centre features a modern suite of vibrant community and business meeting spaces, a state of the art 300-seat theatre and cafe. The venue houses accessible event spaces that cater for small workshops, training sessions, information sessions, conferences, VIP cocktail events and much more. The function rooms and theatre are available both during and after normal building opening hours.

The building, which The Bryan Brown Theatre and Function Centre sits in, is the Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre. It has won a collection of architectural awards for its sustainable design.

The Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre won Public Works Project of the Year at the IPWEA NSW Division 2015 and Engineering Excellence Awards in October 2015. It was also shortlisted in the NSW Architecture Awards for Interior Architecture, Public Architecture and Sustainable Architecture and won the National Design Award for lighting and structure.

OUR SPACES

The Bryan Brown Theatre

Our 300-seat theatre is ideal for cultural showcases, dance concerts, musical performances, musicals, conferences, seminars and film screenings.

The Theatre provides:

• A green room, optional dressing rooms;
• Backstage flyline capacity;
• Lighting rig;
• High quality sound system;
• Loudspeaker system and mixing desk; and
• Accessible ramps on both sides of stage.

Function Rooms 

As well as the fantastic performance space, the function centre is an ideal venue for your exhibitions, launches, functions, conferences and workshops.

​Community Room 1

• Capacity: 145 theatre style, 30 U-shape style, 40 cabaret style (5 per table)
  
• RECOMMENDED CAPACITY (with catering): 60-70 theatre style 
  
• Function space with a SmartBoard, tables and chairs provided by the venue.

Community Room 2

• Capacity: 90 theatre style, 20 U-shape style, 25 cabaret style (5 per table)
• RECOMMENDED CAPACITY (with catering): 40-50 theatre style
  
• Function space with a SmartBoard, tables and chairs provided by the venue.
  

Lansdowne Room 1

• Capacity: 55 theatre style, 20 U-shape style, 25 cabaret style (5 per table)
• RECOMMENDED CAPACITY (with catering): 30-40 theatre style
• Function space with a projector and screen, tables and chairs provided by the venue.
  

Lansdowne Rooms 1 and 2

• Capacity: 110 theatre style, 30 U-shape style, 40 cabaret style (5 per table)
• RECOMMENDED CAPACITY (with catering): 60-70 theatre style
• Function space with a projector and screen, tables and chairs provided by the venue.
  

*Please note, capacities may vary depending on whether catering is served inside the function space.

CATERING

The venue serves a delicious menu and has the flexibility to prepare tailored menus as well. The in-house catering is available in a range of serving styles, including stand-up cocktail or buffet style, cocktail function for 200 people, or a seminar for 35.

EQUIPMENT

The Bryan Brown Theatre is fitted with a state-of-the-art sound system and in-house equipment lighting to suit your event needs. The Bryan Brown Theatre and Function Centre can provide audio-visual equipment, including a lectern and microphones in the function rooms.
