It’s electrifying! Council to turn on 12 new EV charging stations

Electric vehicle (EV) owners will soon have more places to recharge with City of Canterbury Bankstown installing a range of EV chargers across the City.
Over the next few weeks, a mix of 22kWh AC and 55kWh DC off-street charging stations will come online across 12 sites.
Most will have two charging ports – some up to four – bringing the total number of new public charging ports to 36.
This comes in addition to the 60 commercial public charging points already operating across 20 sites in Canterbury-Bankstown.
This latest rollout further supports unit and apartment residents who face challenges in accessing charging, and installing the charging stations off-street means no reduction in the parking available on local roads.
Installation at all 12 sites is expected to be completed by the end of July.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said boosting the City’s EV infrastructure is a major step towards the community’s transition to zero emission transport.
“There are around 58,000 private electric vehicles registered in Greater Sydney, with thousands travelling to and from our LGA every day,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“With fuel prices surging and the cost of EVs dropping, more motorists are making the switch to zero emission vehicles.
“I’m excited to turn on these public EV chargers to meet this growing community demand as we continue to build a modern City in a pivotal transport corridor.”
