Hady Saleh elected Councillor for Roselands Ward

Hady Saleh has officially been named the new Roselands Ward Councillor in City of Canterbury Bankstown.

He was elected under a countback process conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission, following the retirement of Clr Karl Saleh OAM earlier this year.

Clr Hady Saleh comes from a family with a long history of involvement with local government and community service.

“It is a great honour to take on the role of Roselands Ward Councillor and the responsibilities that come with it,” Clr Saleh said.

“Growing up in Punchbowl, and with a proud Lebanese background, I deeply value cultural diversity and want to give back meaningfully to Canterbury-Bankstown, my home.”

Supporting students and families, empowering young people and contributing to a stronger future for the next generation remain at the heart of Clr Saleh’s work.

“Hady brings with him a deep connection to Canterbury‑Bankstown, a strong commitment to public service, and a genuine passion for supporting local families, young people and our diverse communities,” Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said.

“I look forward to working with him as we continue building a strong future for our City.”

After the 14 September 2024 ordinary election, Council voted at their first meeting to use countback to fill any vacancies.

The first Council meeting for 2026 will be held on Tuesday 24 February at the City of Canterbury Bankstown Chambers.
