Beat the heat! Pools and libraries open late this Saturday

With a severe heatwave warning and predicted temperatures of 42°C for Greater Sydney, City of Canterbury Bankstown is extending hours across our pools and Bankstown and Campsie libraries on Saturday 10 January.

09 Jan 2026

Leisure & Aquatic Centres will remain open until 8pm:

  • Roselands Leisure & Aquatic Centre
  • Birrong Leisure & Aquatic Centre
  • Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre
  • Greenacre Splash Park

Library and Knowledge Centres will remain open until 6pm:

  • Bankstown Leisure and Knowledge Centre
  • Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said it’s going to be a real scorcher and expected the community to take full advantage of the extended operating hours.

“Many families will be hitting our pools or heading to our libraries to stay cool and it makes perfect sense to keep them open longer,” he said.

“I urge everyone attending our facilities to have patience and stay safe.”

Greenacre Splash Park is free. Standard entry fees apply to our Leisure & Aquatic centres including free entry for kids aged 5 and under.

We’re expecting our pools to be busy so we will monitor the number of attendees to make sure you stay safe and have fun in the water.
