One of Sydney’s most popular cultural events, Ramadan Nights Lakemba, will return in 2024! Attracting more than 1.4 million people in 2023, Ramadan Nights Lakemba is an award-winning* event that is recognised as being of State-significance.

The spectacular month-long cultural event is a vibrant, global food bazaar during the month of Ramadan. The dates for Ramadan in 2024 are Saturday 9 March to Monday 8 April.

Break your fast or try new foods and experience the rich culture and traditions of Ramadan. There will be over 65 food stalls to tempt your tastebuds, in an atmosphere like no other.

*Ramadan Nights Lakemba 2023 won The RH Dougherty Events and Communications Award for ‘Innovation in special events’, Division C (Population > 70,000 people) at the Local Government Week NSW 2023 Awards.

There is very limited parking so make sure you avoid the crowds by using the FREE shuttle bus, brought to you by Western Union, starting from 6.30pm or catch public transport.

When: Every Thursday-Sunday, 6pm-3am, 9 March-8 April 

(Additionally, stalls will operate for the local community, Monday to Wednesday, 6pm-3am, 9 March-8 April)

Where: Haldon Street, The Boulevard and Railway Parade, Lakemba

About Ramadan

Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year in Islamic culture. The month of Ramadan is spent by people of Muslim faith fasting during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset. At the end of each day’s fast, Muslims gather for Iftar, the evening meal to break their fast.

When to visit

Due to the massive popularity of this event, we have a few tips to make sure your experience is as smooth as possible. If you are visiting with a family, or simply want to avoid some of the crowds and cues, follow these tips:

  • Catch public transport or take the FREE Western Union shuttle bus there (you might not find a park!)
  • Come early in the night, the stalls will be open every day from 6pm 

Free shuttle bus - brought to you by Western Union

The Western Union shuttle buses will be free for the public to use between 6.30pm-12.30am every Thursday-Sunday from Saturday 9 March-Monday 8 April.  They will run on the below routes, leaving approximately every 30 minutes. 

Shuttle bus 1 – Campsie – Lakemba - Roselands
First Departure: 6.30pm
Final Departure: 12.15am        

  • Pick up 1 Shakespeare St Carpark, Campsie           
  • Pick up/Drop Off 2 Lakemba Station, Haldon St, Lakemba                
  • Pick up/Drop Off 3 Roselands Dr, opposite Lantern Club, Roselands
Shuttle bus 2 – Roselands – Lakemba - Campsie
First Departure: 6.30pm
Final Departure: 12.15am

How to get here

Ramadan Nights Lakemba takes place on Haldon Street, the Boulevard and Railway Parade, Lakemba.

Located in the heart of Lakemba, it is easily accessible by public transport with the T3 Bankstown Line and Lakemba Station bringing you to the centre of the event. Plan your trip at

Road closures and detour routes will be in place every night from 9 March-8 April 2024, 5pm-3am. We highly recommend taking public transport or the FREE Western Union shuttle bus to visit Ramadan Nights Lakemba, as there will be very limited parking available. Click the button below to see the full list of road closures or to apply for a permit.

If you are planning to drive to the event, we recommend parking near one of the surrounding train stations on the T3 Bankstown Line, then catching the train to Lakemba Station. Alternatively, you can park around Roselands or Campsie, then catch our FREE Western Union shuttle bus to Ramadan Nights Lakemba.


This event will have accessible transportation available via:

    Available at select times every Thursday-Sunday from Sunday 9 March-Monday 8 April. These buses will run between Roselands, Campsie and Lakemba. For more information on this, please refer to the “Free shuttle bus” section above

There will be accessible toilets available in a Marveloo on Gillies Lane Reserve which includes a baby change room. This Marveloo requires a MLAK key, which can be borrowed from security at the roundabout on the corner of Gillies and Quigg Street. 

There will also be accessible bathrooms available at Oneata Street and in the railway reserve on The Boulevarde, as well as an accessible toilet at Lakemba Train Station platform as well as a lift. 

Please be mindful we are expecting large crowds and there will be very limited seating available. The walking requirement to attend this event is a minimum of two hours.
