How does it work?

You have been selected for the Recycle Right program

When you see this tag on your bin it means your street has been selected to take part in the program.  Over the coming months, Recycling Education Officers will check all of the recycling bins in your street four times.  They will leave feedback on how you're doing.

It means you are doing the right thing, and as our way of saying thanks for keeping things out of landfill we’re​ giving you the chance to win a reward. Just follow the directions on the tag to enter the draw.

An Oh No tag​

It means we found the wrong things in your bin. Check out the back of the card to find out what they are.

 

Putting the wrong items in your yellow bin causes problems for the recycling machines and increases Council's costs. If the wrong things are found too often, your bin may not be emptied or even removed.

Recycle Right FAQ's

  1. Why is my recycling bin being checked?
    We want to help you get recycling right. When people recycle incorrectly it causes problems. Giving feedback helps the right thing go in the right bin.
  2. Will I get fined?
    No! This program is designed to help you Recycle Right and isn't about punishment. You won't be fined, but your bin could be rejected or removed. 
  3. Why was my recycling bin not emptied?
    Too many incorrect items were found in your recycling bin, complete our Recycling Bin Collection Form​ to get your bin collected.
  4. Why was my recycling bin removed?
    Council Officers have conducted a number of inspections of your yellow recycling bin and have found incorrect items in it. 
    We had to remove your yellow bin because the incorrect items cause problems with the recycling system. Complete our Removed Recycling Bin Education Form​ to get your bin returned.
