What kind of person should be nominated for an Australia Day Award?

Anyone who helps out and makes a big difference to the people around them should be nominated for an Australia Day Award.
It could be a regular volunteer at your cricket club, an outstanding local GP or an exceptional teacher.

How are winners chosen?

All nominees are reviewed and judged by the Canterbury‑Bankstown Australia Day Awards Selection Committee. Consideration is given to the scope of impact their contribution has on the local area.
Nominees must live in the Canterbury-Bankstown area, with the exception of Volunteer of the Year.
Self-nominations are not accepted. Council staff, Members of Parliament and members of the Australia Day Awards Selection Committee cannot be nominated.

All nominees will be contacted, and winners of each category will be invited to attend a ceremony on 26 January 2023 and presented their award by the Mayor.
