Trainees, apprentices and graduates will have an exclusive opportunity to take their first step into the workforce, thanks to the City of Canterbury Bankstown’s Trainee, Apprentice and Graduate (TAG) Program.
Successful trainees will receive four days of work each week, as well as completing vocational education and training studies once a week.
They will also be provided with essential workplace skills, as well as having access to a range of learning and development tools, including interview skills.
Administrator, Richard Colley, said the program offers exceptional opportunities to young people.
"The program offers a dynamic work environment, on-going professional development, supportive on-the-job training and a competitive entry salary," he said.
"By the end of the 12-24 months, candidates will have come a long way professionally, as well as becoming a competitive candidate to receive a permanent role within Council."
One of Council’s Customer Service Officer’s, Celestial Perez, began her career as a Customer Service Trainee through the TAG Program in November 2015.
"The traineeship was the perfect role for me to break into the workforce and earn while learning," Miss Perez said.
"Not only was I was able to apply what I was learning at TAFE in a practical, hands-on environment, but I also learnt many new skills that I would never have developed otherwise."
The 21-year-old said she thoroughly enjoyed working at the Council, which is why she applied for a full-time Customer Service Officer role following her traineeship, and was successful.
"I got to work with a network of experienced and really supportive people in an inclusive, flexible and positive organisation," Miss Perez said.
Applications for the TAG Program will open on Monday 4 September and close on Saturday 30 September.
Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed, with the successful candidates commencing work in January 2018.
