Whether your kids are into sport, art or even Harry Potter, there’s plenty of activities available these school holidays in Canterbury-Bankstown.

All nine libraries will offer different activities from Monday 8 July to Friday 19 July, including:

  • Science club (Bankstown and Greenacre);
  • Arts and crafts (all facilities);
  • Virtual reality workshops (Bankstown, Chester Hill, Riverwood and Lakemba);
  • Stop motion classes (Padstow and Greenacre); and
  • Harry Potter Party (Campsie).

Mayor Khal Asfour said special events would also be held at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre, Bankstown Arts Centre and Bryan Brown Theatre.

"Every school holidays we aim to provide a variety of free and affordable activities for kids of all ages to enjoy," he said.

"One of the highlights for the July holidays is the Harry Potter Party at Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre on Friday 12 July, but we’ve also got a jam packed schedule of sports, games and competitions to keep kids active."

Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre will offer half-day and full day activities from Monday 15 July to Friday 19 July. The schedule includes:

  • Rugby league soccer, basketball, volleyball and netball games;
  • Nerf Gun battle;
  • Junior warrior course;
  • Introduction to Taekwondo;
  • Fitness challenges; and
  • Handball competitions.

Council is also:

  • Partnering with the NRL to conduct free rugby league clinics on Wednesday 10 July and Wednesday 17 July; and
  • Hosting ceramic mask making, musical instrument building and Aboriginal weaving classes at Bankstown Arts Centre from Monday 8 July.
