City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor, Khal Asfour, was a special guest at the recent unveiling of expansions at the Australian headquarters of French industrial bakery, Bakers Maison Australia, at Revesby.

The frozen breads and pastries manufacturing company has been based in Revesby for almost 10 years and is now a national and international distributor.
“This is a great example of a local company working hard and reaping the rewards,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Our City’s economy is flourishing and is estimated to be worth more than $14.29 billion, and that is due to these business success stories.
“Their success means more jobs – at present, we have 150,800 people employed in Canterbury-Bankstown, and that number is growing.”
Director and General Manager of Bakers Maison Australia, Pascal Chaneliere, said what once was a small business with less than 15 staff, is now a global distributor with more than 120 employees and an annual turnover of $24 million.
“We were renting a property in Botany but it was too small, so we needed to find a place that could store all our products,” he said.
The business snapped up a 3,500sqm block in Revesby nine years ago and recently purchased the block next door, which was around 2,200sqm.
“This extra space has allowed us to build extra freezer storage and have a place to fit new machinery and equipment, which will help grow our operations,” Mr Chaneliere said.
One of the main reasons why Revesby was chosen as the site was because of its proximity to major roads.
“A main part of the business is transporting 100 products nationally and internationally, and the main way we do this is via the M5 - to get to the City and airport,” Mr Chaneliere said.
“Our main focus is on national distribution but we’ve recently begun exporting to south-east Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and China.”
