Fire up the barbecues and pull out the picnic blankets, as the City of Canterbury Bankstown slowly opens up after the easing of some health restrictions.
From this week, fully vaccinated residents will enjoy the same freedoms as those living across Greater Sydney.
The City of Canterbury Bankstown has moved quickly to turn the gas back on its outdoor barbecues, reinstall basketball hoops and reopen play equipment at all parks.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor, Khal Asfour, said Council has been working very closely with local police and health officials, and is consistently reviewing what is in the best interests of all concerned.
“This is about the community being able to get back outdoors and bring some sanity back in their lives,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Our community is under enough mental strain at the moment and as a Council we will do what we can to make life easier for them.
“I want my community to know I will keep fighting for more restrictions to be lifted.”
The State Government has announced public pools can reopen from Monday 27 September.
“Council is currently working with the Government on guidelines for reopening and we expect our pools to open as soon as possible,” Mayor Asfour said.
