Tickets are selling fast for the big shows to be performed at the Bryan Brown Theatre over the next two months.
Bankstown Theatre Company’s Oliver opened last Friday, with a total of six shows scheduled, while Fame – The Musical kicks off on 18 August with the first of six shows already a sellout!
Steven Voulgaris, who is the new Manager of the Bryan Brown Theatre, promises to make the venue a premier entertainment destination in Canterbury-Bankstown.
“I want the Bryan Brown Theatre to be a one-stop destination for those who enjoy a night out and one that will attract both locals and visitors,” he said.
“Over the next 12 months, the community can expect a reinvigorated production program, beginning with Oliver, Fame, and Remembering the Carpenters, along with additional big-name shows that you’d see at any other big theatre.
“I’ll be looking to schedule local community shows, live music and comedy nights as well.
“I want people to be buzzing when they come to the theatre and leave wanting to come back for more. The key to that vibrancy is bringing in shows they want to see and are well-known.”
A new interactive website has also be unveiled, which allows theatre-goers to choose their seats online and print them from the comfort and ease of their own home.
BLaKC Café is also under new management. Tamara Adzic, the Food and Beverage Manager, said she hoped people would seek out BLaKC Café as a dining destination rather than just a stopover to the theatre or library.
“My aim is to have people talking about the food and the trendy café that’s at the library and Bryan Brown Theatre,” Ms Adzic said.
“I’ve developed an entire menu to suit those who want to be a bit indulgent with cakes and confectionary and also created a specialised section with healthy super foods, such as a spiced chicken and roast beetroot pinenut rocket and quinoa salad with yoghurt.
“Over the next 12 months I want to continue experimenting with the menu and perhaps introduce tapas nights, high tea afternoons, and themed menus to cater for different cultures and occasions.”
