After surviving an eating disorder as a teenager, Mim Beim turned to naturopathy.
Decades later, Ms Beim has carved a successful career in alternative medicine, and
is one of Australia’s most well respected naturopaths.
“I didn’t know naturopathy existed until I got sick,” Ms Beim said.
“At the time, anorexia wasn’t a well known condition, and as many people with eating
disorders know, you became obsessed with nutrition and diet.
“I found naturopathy helped heal me. It was a natural and holistic approach that put
me back onto the path of health.”
The nine-time author is scheduled to visit Panania Library and Knowledge Centre on
Thursday 2 March (10.30am-noon), to share information in her latest book, Natural Remedies, Grow Your Own Medicine and Tea, Health & Happiness.
“I naturopathy as the step before being treated by doctors,” Ms Beim said.
“Doctors will treat disease but what naturopathy does is treat the symptoms before it
turns into a disease.
“A lot of people come to me with conditions that are made worse by stress, so my
preference for treating them is to recommend diet changes, increase exercise and
use different breathing techniques.”
