Local youth can escape into a fantasy world at Bankstown City Gardens, thanks to a ‘magical app’ which can be downloaded on a digital smart phone or device.
City of Canterbury Bankstown Administrator, Richard Colley, said Council has been able to secure the use of the Magical Parks app in time for the school holidays.
“The app provides hours of entertainment,” Mr Colley said.
“Technology seems to have taken over our lives, so it is great to see an app that encourages physical game play in a motivational and encouraging way, and also promotes bonding time with family and friends.
“Children can chase dinosaurs or share a toadstool seat with a fairy.”
Mr Colley said the introduction of the app followed a successful trial conducted earlier this year at Bankstown City Gardens.
“It was a fantastic to see families eagerly interacting and exploring a fantasy world where they could play with fairies, or come face-to-face with a giant T-Rex, all in a local park setting using their smart phone or tablet,” he said.
Magical Parks can only be played within Bankstown City Gardens. There are a number of themed worlds that users can download free from the app Store or Google Play:
The Magical Parks will be available in Bankstown City Gardens until June 2018. The app is free and intended for 6-12 year olds.
