Food tours to tempt all palates

There’s a food tour for every tastebud at this year’s Bankstown Bites Food Festival on Saturday 28 July.

Mayor Khal Asfour said there are seven tours planned, taking in 22 eateries, each being run at three different times during the day.

"I encourage foodies to book in for the tours quickly because they traditionally sell out fast," Mayor Asfour said.

"Thousands of people come to Bites every year, most from other parts of Sydney and NSW, to enjoy some of the tastiest food we have to offer.

"Sweet, savoury, spicy, fresh and exotic – there’s a guided food tour to tempt all palates!

"There’s also a tour to suit any age or ability, with walking distances varying from 550 metres to 1.8 kilometres."

The tours cost $10 (plus a booking fee) per person and will depart at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm. This year’s tours are:

  • Pink tour, 1.8 kilometre walk – Melt 27, Sweet Fantasy Cakes, Sweet City Cafe and Cafe Amoura;
  • Blue tour, 1.5 kilometre walk – Fujiyama Japanese Cuisine, Mr Bom Restaurant and Miami Pizza;
  • Grey tour, 600 metre walk – Taste of Egypt, Chehade El Basha and Sons Sweets and Nature Care and Acupuncture Centre Pty Ltd;
  • Red tour, 550 metre walk – Vbites, Jenkins Cake Shop and Cafe Nho;
  • Green tour 650 metre walk – Loving Hut, Banh Cuon Kim Thanh and Nhu Y Juice Bar;
  • Black tour (18+) 1.2 kilometre walk – La Moosh, Bankstown Hotel’s Oscars restaurant and Mam Mam Restaurant; and
  • White tour (18+) 1.6 kilometre walk – Nam Fong Hot Bread, Bankstown Cellars and Bankstown RSL’s Star Buffet.

Other highlights on the day include live entertainment and celebrity chef demonstrations, while there will be dozens of stall holders. The festival will run from 10am-4pm in Olympic Parade, Bankstown.
