The countdown is on for Bankstown Bites, but the clock won’t be ticking down this time in the kitchen for My Kitchen Rules star contestants, David and Betty, two of Bites’ celebrity chefs.

David said he was prepped and ready for one of Sydney’s biggest and best food festivals, which will be held on Saturday 29 July at Olympic Parade, Bankstown, from 10am-4pm.

“The hardest thing about My Kitchen Rules was the clock! The time used to run out so quickly, so it will be good to go at our own pace,” David said.

“Being a local boy, I can’t think of a better way to say thank you to the fans than by cooking up a storm for them.

“With all the support we received from Canterbury-Bankstown, we thought we’d take this opportunity to give back to the people who have supported us on our incredible My Kitchen Rules journey.”

With the Winter chill setting in, the semi-finalists have promised to make their appearance hot, hot, hot.

Betty said she was looking forward to showcasing one of her favorite ingredients and its versatility.

“We will be showing people how a base ingredient, like red curry, can be used in so many ways,” Betty said.

Some of their salivating dishes will include Thai Fish Cakes and Red Curry Satay Chicken.

David Vu and Betty Banks are no strangers to Canterbury-Bankstown’s thrilling food scene having grown up in the area.

“Growing up in Bankstown, it’s always been my go to place for food - cheap, fresh, authentic and just delicious,” David said.

“There are so many options from the Old Chapel Rd side with the best Pho in the world from Pho An, to the awesome diversity in Little Saigon Plaza with Yum Char at Chefs Dynasty, Korean food at BBQ City and Kanzi Lounge.”

David and Betty will join their fellow My Kitchen Rules judge, Darren Roberston, from Three Blue Ducks restaurant, who will also be serving up delicious meals.
