Council steps up funding for footpaths

Council steps up funding for footpaths A record $4.5 million will be invested on footpaths and boardwalks in Canterbury-Bankstown in 2019-2020. No

A record $4.5 million will be invested on footpaths and boardwalks in Canterbury-Bankstown in 2019-2020.

Mayor Khal Asfour said the funds would go towards constructing a number of boardwalks and 43 footpaths across the City, which already has a network of 1,190 kilometres.

"Over the next 12 months, we will construct around 10 kilometres of new and renewed footpaths, to make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to get around our City," he said.

"This continues to be part of our commitment for our City to be accessible."

The first footpath project will be at Duntroon Street – Barton Avenue to Marcia Lane, Hurlstone Park and start next month.
