Residents are invited to attend a special event celebrating the Centenary of Milperra on Sunday 9 April.
The celebration, to be hosted by the City of Canterbury Bankstown, in partnership with Federal Member for Blaxland, Jason Clare, will be held at Newland Reserve.
Administrator, Richard Colley, said the event will mark 100 years since the suburb of Milperra was established.
"Milperra began as a soldier settlement, becoming home to around 120 servicemen returning from World War I, and their families," Mr Colley said.
To celebrate the centenary, a number of activities and entertainment is being planned for the 9 April event, including:
Mr Clare said it will be a fun day for people of all ages and an ideal way to learn more about the history of Milperra.
"Milperra was a very important part of our local community. It was forged by the veterans of Gallipoli and the Western Front," Mr Clare said.
"This event will celebrate the history of the local community and the great community spirit that still exists in Milperra today."
The event will run from 11am-2pm. For more information, call 9707 9000 or 9790 2466.
