The City of Canterbury Bankstown has improved the safety of thousands of children travelling to and from school.
Council recently completed upgrades of eight pedestrian crossing at local schools.
Mayor Khal Asfour said safety is one of my priorities and these projects will ensure children are not put at greater risk.
“More than 58,000 children go to school across our City every day and we need to make sure they are dropped off and picked up safely.” Mayor Asfour said.
“The community has been asking for safer schools, and these upgrades will make going to and from school every day much safer.”
The upgraded school crossings included:
These crossing upgrades have been constructed with children’s safety front of mind and include signage, new fencing and raised crossings.
“Improved safety near schools is a top priority for me,” Mayor Asfour said.
“With more upgrades to be completed in the 2021/22 financial year, we’re going to see considerable improvements in the safety of children going to and from school in Canterbury-Bankstown.”
