The City of Canterbury Bankstown is proud that its children’s centres and family day care programs are all nationally-accredited, making them the most trusted among young families.
Mayor Khal Asfour said residents need to be reassured, following today’s name and shame of dodgy operators by the Federal Government, which included two private operators based in Lakemba.
"We have 42 years’ experience in educating children in Canterbury-Bankstown and 45 qualified educators looking after more than 250 children," Mayor Asfour said.
"Our four centres and out of school hours care, at Clemton Park, have been rated as exceeding national standards, which is the highest rating you can attain, while our family day care services are also meeting national standards.
"What sets us apart from the rest, is the fact we make it a priority every year to inspect our facilities to ensure they’re compliant."
Mayor Asfour highlighted the fact, Canterbury-Bankstown was the first Council to launch the Scores on Schools program, which is aimed at safe food handling and allergen management in schools and children’s centres.
"Since implementing this program in July last year, Council has inspected more than 77 schools and children’s facilities," Mayor Asfour said.
"In addition, we also holds regular food handling training courses for our child care and family day care employees.
"It’s just another way we ensure parents and guardians feel confident and comfortable when their child/children attend our centres."
