Belmore sporting master plan

A 17-hectare site in Belmore is set to be transformed into a Sports and Recreation Precinct.

City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor, Khal Asfour, said a master plan for the site, which takes in the current Belmore Sports Ground complex is currently being developed.

"We want residents, businesses and sporting groups involved in this process from the outset and help create something which can be enjoyed for generations to come," Mayor Asfour said.

"So I am encouraging them to have their say, to tell us what they’d like to see established.

"I anticipate similar levels of feedback as the recent Parry Park master plan project."

A prime focus for Council will be delivering an area that caters to the entire City.

"Everyone knows Belmore is the home of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and some really great cafes and shops but, once we’re done, everyone will know it for the lively area it is," Mayor Asfour said.

"We want this precinct to be the green heart of Belmore that caters to our diverse community."

The project aims to deliver:

  • Improved connections between Campsie and Belmore Railways Stations;
  • Improved public amenity;
  • Improved Belmore Sports Ground and associated fields;
  • Strategies to reduce flooding to areas north of the rail;
  • Improved pedestrian access to the south of the site; and
  • Looking at the potential inclusion of a new playground and associated cafes and amenities.

Over the next month, Council will be holding a number of drop-in sessions where residents can provide their thoughts and ideas.
