Community organisations have a chance to share in hundreds of thousands of dolars as part of the 2017 Canterbury-Bankstown NSW ClubGRANTS Scheme.
ClubGrants is a state-wide initiative aimed at providing significant financial support for projects and services that contribute to the well-being of local communities.
This year will mark the first time that former Bankstown and Canterbury ClubGRANTS committees operate as one, which City of Canterbury Bankstown Administrator, Richard Colley, believes is a benefit to applicants and the wider community.
"Traditionally local clubs and organisations applied for funding to run their service or program within their local area, now they will have the chance to expand their service or initiative to reach across Canterbury-Bankstown," Mr Colley said.
"This is an added benefit to local residents who will be accessing those services or programs."
Almost $2 million has been allocated to this year’s Canterbury-Bankstown ClubGRANTS Scheme. The funding is provided by licenced clubs which earn more than $1 million annually in gaming machine revenue and are looking to assist community projects and services.
Applications are assessed on their capacity to address local needs of the various community target groups namely CALD communities, children and families, men, older people, people with disabilities, women and youth.
"We have so many community groups and organisations which do wonderful things for our residents, and it’s important we try to assist as many as possible.," Mr Colley said.
Committee member, Paul Kougias, from Canterbury Hurlstone Park Club, said he was excited about the new chapter for ClubGRANTS.
"By working together, we work towards funding and providing the much needed and necessary services and programs our residents deserve," he said.
Applications open Tuesday 7 March and close Easter Monday, 17 April. For more information, go to www.cbcity.nsw.gov.au/clubgrants or call 9707 9540.
