COVID-19 Restrictions Stage 1 - Outdoor Pools

 

The Canterbury-Bankstown Leisure & Aquatics Team welcomes lap swimmers back to our Centres

In unprecedented times, we are excited to restore some level of normality through the controlled opening of our outdoor pools to lap swimmers on Saturday 23 May as part of stage one (1) of Government restrictions easing.  

The health and safety of our customers and staff remains our priority and we appreciate your support and assistance by adhering to our COVID-Safe Plan.

All other areas of our Centres and programming will remain closed during Stage 1 of COVID-19 restrictions easing and we will keep you posted on any changes to service levels, as we continue to review our operations in line with updated advice from the NSW Government and Health NSW.

During stage 1, the following level of service will be in place:

Trading Hours

The centres will trade as normal during the week and we will have modified hours on weekends as outlined below. The Wran Leisure & Aquatic Centre will remain closed due to indoor pools being required to remain closed during stage 1.

Lap Swimming by booking only

Under the NSW State Government COVID-19 restrictions, we are limited in terms of the number of people we can have within the pool at any one time. We will have a limit of 8 swimmers per hour at our Birrong & Roselands Centres and a maximum of 7 per hour in our Canterbury and Max Parker Centres. To manage fair access to the pool for the community, we have implemented an online booking process via EventBrite and all customers must make a booking in advance. One (1) hour bookings will be made available online 24 hours prior the session. To make a booking, you can do so HERE.  Bookings will open on Friday 22 May for the following day - until then, the Eventbrite page will show "sorry, no upcoming events". Customers will not be able to book consecutive timeslots as a courtesy to other swimmers and will not be able to book any further than 24 hours in advance.

Please be advised that bookings through the EVENTBRITE portal will be listed as a "FREE" booking for the purpose of allowing the booking to be made. However, sessions are not free of charge and the adopted fees and charges structure will apply to every entry.

If you have trouble booking online, you can call the centre of your choice during trading hours and a team member can assist you with your booking.

Session Info

Weekday lap swimming sessions commence from 6am at 1 hour intervals. There is no 5am, 11am or 4pm timeslots due to cleaning and sanitation and minimal squad sessions.  

Weekend lap swimming sessions commence from 6.30am at 1 hour intervals. There is no 11.30am session due to cleaning and sanitation.

To avoid disappointment, please ensure you are on time as all time slots will commence sharply.

Each session will involve:

  • 5 minute access period to the centre including payment,
  • 45 minutes in the water
  • 10 minutes to exit the water, collect belongings and leave the centre a
  • Customers are required to exit the pools under the direction of CB Leisure & Aquatic staff
  • No spectators can access the centre until further notice.
  • Customers will not be permitted to enter the centre until the booking time commences and customers must be outside the centre by the end of the session time.

Please note, customers who fail to follow the CB Leisure & Aquatics COVIDSafe Plan, our terms and conditions and directions of centre staff, may risk eviction from the centres and possible bans.

​Payment, Fees and Charges

Cash will not be accepted during COVID-19. Customers will be required to pay by card only so please ensure you bring your card with you. Customers will be required to enter the facilities in line with Council's Fees and Charges structure. Casual entry and use of membership cards apply.

Access and Egress during restricted periods

Entry to the Canterbury-Bankstown Leisure & Aquatic Centres will be through the front of the centres as normal and all customers must adhere to social distancing of 1.5m, and follow the floor decals and signage posted at each centre.

Exiting the centres will be through alternate exit points under the direction of  Leisure & Aquatic Centre staff.

Showers, Change rooms and Toilets

Please be advised that change room and shower facilities will remain closed in line with Government restrictions. However, toilet access will be available with social distancing of 1.5m be observed and cubicle access only. Staff will wipe down surfaces between use and between swimming sessions.

Children & Spectators

Under the current restrictions, no spectators are permitted in the centres. If a child under 15 wishes to swim laps, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 years or over, who has also booked and is swimming.

Indoor Pools, Swim School, Gym, Fitness, Aqua and other programs/area

The outdoor pools are the only areas of the centre other than the foyer and toilets that will be open. Access to Indoor Pools, Swim School, Gym, Saunas, Fitness & Aqua and other programs will be reviewed in line with NSW Government and Health NSW advice when we move into stages 2 and 3 of restrictions easing.
