Back by popular demand – Pets Day Out returns in 2024 with a purr-iffic range of activities and events. Come along for a FREE day of fun with your family and furry friends. 

All leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome on the day.

This event will feature: 

  • Pet talks and competitions
  • An opportunity for you to meet with local animal charities and stock up on pet-friendly treats from a range of stalls 
  • Special guest speaker Dr. Lisa Chimes 

Bring the kids along for a range of FREE arts and craft activities, face painting, jumping castle and a petting zoo. 

Think your pet is the most paw-fect? Enter them in the best dressed pet competition for the chance to win prizes below!  Plus, put your paws up with Animal Referral Hospital's calm space for pets, providing complimentary wellness checks

Our Animal Control Officers will be on site to offer: 

  • FREE microchipping for your pets for Canterbury-Bankstown residents (please bring proof of residency)
  • FREE pet food pantry of cats and dog treats
  • Information on animal registration and demos on how to pay registrations fees online
  • How to address barking dogs
  • Education on responsible pet ownership within Canterbury-Bankstown

Best Dressed Pet Competition 

Do you love dressing your pet? Then register them now for the Best Dressed Pet Competition. Your pet will get to come along on the day to showcase their style. Great prizes to be won! 

To enter, you must submit a photo of your pet dressed up, then bring your pet in that outfit, on the day. 

Pre-registrations for the best dressed pet competition have now closed, but don't worry, you can still enter them on the day! Come see our friendly team at the event with your pet to register them, registrations will close at 11am on the day.

Stallholders

Local animal related charities, pet services and suppliers will be on site to answer you pet questions, provide education and purchase animal inspired treats from.

500 Paws in 500 metres walk 

New this year, join us for the 500 paws in 500 metres walk, a short walk with your leashed pet around the park brought to you by Sydney Water. The first 100 pets to register on the day will receive a reusable animal bowl! 

Event information

Auslan interpreter

This event will feature an Auslan interpreter located at the Pets Talk Stage from 10am-2pm.

Pets at the event

Leashed and well behaved pets are welcome to attend. Owners must pick up after their pets and put it in the garbage bins provided. CBCity Animal Control Officers will be at the event as Gough Whitlam Park is not an off-leash park.

Getting there

Train

Pets Day Out  is accessible via Tempe Station on the T4 line. The event space is a 6 minute or 500 meters walk from the station. 

Bus

Gough Whitlam Park is accessible via bus routes 348, 422 and 425.

There is parking available on surrounding streets and limited off street parking accessible via Bayview Avenue.
