National Tree Day 2024

National Tree Day 2024 Come along for a community day of planting to celebrate our natural environment. Yes National Tree Day 2024   28/07/2024 10:00 AM 28/07/2024 1:00 PM Pat O’Connor Reserve, Anzac Street, Canterbury

Come along for a community day of planting to celebrate our natural environment and help boost native habitat within our biodiversity corridor.

Earlier this year 1500 native trees and tall shrubs were planted to cool our local area and create valuable habitats for birds and other wildlife. For this event, we will be planting lower shrubs, grasses and groundcovers to fill in the gaps and create the understorey habitat.

Understorey is just as important for local biodiversity as the canopy. It provides food and refuge for small birds, supports a diversity of insects including important pollinators and shelter for ground-dwelling animals like frogs and lizards.

There will also be FREE plants for volunteers to take home. Please wear a hat and covered shoes. Gloves and tools will be provided.

  • When: Sunday 28 July, 10am-1pm
  • Where: Pat O’Connor Reserve, Anzac Street, Canterbury
