Lunar New Year 2021 - Year of the Ox

Canterbury Bankstown invited the community to celebrate Lunar New Year, the Year of the Ox in spectacular style.

At ANZAC Street Mall Campsie, traditional red lanterns decorated the Mall. On Friday 5 February, from 5pm – 9pm, the Lunar New Year Night Noodle Market was held and included food stalls, lion dancers and firecrackers, traditional musicians and roving characters such as the God of Wealth. The event was proudly supported by the NSW Government and The Festival of Place – Summer Fund.

At Saigon Place Bankstown, lanterns and decorative buntings were flying high above the street. A giant lantern ox was also on display bringing in good fortune for the new year. On Friday 12 February, a traditional lion dance roamed through Saigon Place visiting businesses and greeting passers-by.
