Celebrate Lunar New Year and welcome the Year of the Dragon in spectacular style in Canterbury-Bankstown.


Join the exciting celebrations with live entertainment, lucky envelopes given by the God and Goddess of Good Fortune, a dragon dance parade, lion dancing, firecrackers plus more! 

This year we also have added karaoke, with songs available in a range of languages, plus our New Year Garden, which will include a variety of food stalls and much more. Check out the entertainment program and list of FREE activities below.

Event information

The event space is at Griffith Park and Olympic Parade, Bankstown. The main entertainment stage will be held on the green space of Griffith Park. On Olympic Parade there will be a variety of food stalls, kids rides and entertainment in the carpark off Olympic Parade. The Lunar New Year Garden will be held on the forecourt of the Bankstown Arts Centre. These event spaces are accessible via footpaths and pedestrian ramps on Olympic Parade, Griffith Park and Dale Parade.

There will be plastic seats in front of the stage and scattered tables and chairs throughout the event space.

This event will include loud music, bright lights, amusement rides and firecrackers, which emit a very loud noise and create bright, flashing lights. 

Auslan interpreter

This event will feature an Auslan interpreter, located at the right side of the stage (stage left) from 4-9.00pm. This service can be best accessed in front of the right side of the stage.

Getting there

Bankstown Lunar New Year is accessible via Bankstown Station on the T3 Bankstown line, with the event taking place 300 metres from the station. Click here to plan your trip with Transport NSW. 

A pick up/drop off zone will also be available on Dale Parade out the front of Bankstown Arts Centre. 

Parking

There will be 10 additional accessible parking spaces on Dale Parade, south of Olympic Parade, next to Griffith Park. Other carpark stations are located at Brandon Avenue, Greenfield Parade and Marion Street. 

There is also a pick up/drop off zone on Dale Parade out the front of Bankstown Arts Centre.
