Georges River is returning in 2019 as part of the Leukaemia Foundation's Light the Night Walk, hosting a local event in Panania.
Heartbreakingly every 35 minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. More than 60,000 Australian families face the treatment and challenges for leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma every day.
Light the Night is an annual event where families and friends come together for a gentle walk at twilight, carrying one of three coloured lanterns;
gold to remember a loved one,
white for their own blood cancer journey, or
blue to show they care.
The shared goal of Georges River Light the Night is to raise $100,000 to enable the Leukaemia Foundation to continue providing free emotional and practical support for people living with blood cancer, as well as invest in research to improve treatments and find cures. To date we have raised just over $75,000 and would like to increase this tally by another $25,000 which can help provide a year of a PhD scholarship for one of the brightest researchers to find new diagnostics or therapies to help beat blood cancer.
Bookings are not required to attend this event.
