Class visits

All Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are invited to participate in our interactive Library and Knowledge Centre visits!

It’s the perfect way to promote Book Week, and introduce your students to their local Library and Knowledge Centre. Each session will include a presentation of shortlisted books, storytelling, activities, an overview of available resources and information on becoming a member.

Sessions run for approximately 45 minutes and are available from Friday 17 August to Friday 24 August.

For more information, or if you would like to schedule a session, call Council’s Children and Youth Technical Specialist on 9707 9731 or email tara.cordina@cbcity.nsw.gov.au

Writing competition

Don’t forget to enter your kids in the Book Week writing competitions!

Attached are two competition entries – one for students in Kindergarten to Year 1 and the other for students in Years 2-6. This competition asks ‘if you had a treasure tree, what would it grow?’

There are fabulous prizes to be won, including books and two tickets to our October School Holiday special event.

Competition ends Friday 31 August, 5pm.

Guessing competition

This year’s guessing competition is based on Melbourne-based illustrator Anna Walker’s Book Week artwork. Your students will need to guess how many leaves there are the Treasure Tree.

To enter, book a session at any of our Library and Knowledge Centres, and students will be given an entry form as part of their session.

There are fabulous prizes to be won, including books and two tickets to our October School Holiday special event.

Competition ends Friday 31 August, 5pm.
