Canterbury-Bankstown Council is seeking expressions of interest from the residents and business owners to join Council's Floodplain Management Committee (FMC). The Committee assists Council in implementing the NSW Government's Flood Prone Land Policy. The Committee does not consider specific development proposals/applications but focuses on broader catchment-wide management issues, Council policies and strategies affecting flood prone lands.
The Committee is chaired by a Councillor and consist of Council staff members, representatives from Government agencies & other councils, SES personnel, and community & business representatives. Nominations are especially encouraged from the residents and business owners that have knowledge or interest in local flooding, floodplain management and related issues. Meetings will be held four times a year, in the evening, and will comprise of presentations followed by discussions.
