Please note the Interlibrary Service is not currently
available due to Covid restrictions.
Interlibrary loans ensure that library members are able to access resources and copies of articles not available in their local library, from other libraries throughout NSW and Australia. It's also known as interlibrary lending.
The library will borrow, where possible, on interlibrary loan, material not available for purchase or material which does not meet the selection criteria of the collection development policy.
Please note that a limit of five requests per month per borrower is allowed.
A fee, as updated from time to time in Council's Fees and Charges Policy, will be charged in advance for each item not held by the Library (excluding State library boxes for which no fee is charged). Additional charges from the lending institution for interlibrary loans will be the responsibility of the borrower.
Loan periods are set by the lending Library, and vary between each one. The borrowing period for the borrower is usually 2 weeks, unless restricted by the lending Library. Renewals are possible, but only with permission of the Library in question.
The lending Library may place restrictions on the items obtained (for example, they may ask that you do not remove the item from the Library and take it home) and these terms will be enforced / communicated to the borrower at the time.
Charges for overdue items, the non-return of items, or their damage or loss will be in accordance with those set by the lending Library and they are your responsibility.
Loan restrictions and overdue fines will be as outlined in the conditions of the Library Services - Borrowing Policy.
Each library will make every effort possible to obtain the item requested in the minimum amount of time (approximately 2 weeks). However a variety of circumstances, mostly external, may affect this timeframe.
