Our Youth Plan sits within the framework of the Community Plan. The Youth Plan outlines youth services, activities and projects to be put into place from 2014-2018.

The Youth Plan is a guide to be utilised by the communities in Canterbury Bankstown – for local community organisations, services and all levels of Government.

An extensive consultation program was undertaken in developing this Youth Plan.

The Plan

These consultations have developed a framework for meeting the needs of young people in our LGA and several strategies have been recommended.

Who does the Plan aim to help?

Our Plan aims to focus on inclusion for groups which may ordinarily feel marginalised.

These include young people who:

  • Have newly arrived in Australia;
  • Are refugees;
  • Have a disability;
  • Are at risk of homelessness; and
  • Identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual + all other sexualities and gender identities (LGBTQIA+).

Focus areas

The Plan will focus on its objectives across a few main areas, including:

  • Core services/programs;
  • New initiatives;
  • Access to information; and
  • Disengaged young people.
