What is National Families Week?

National Families Week celebrates the role of families in Australia.
What does your family mean to you? What do you give to, and get from your family?

Family in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture often has a broader definition than in other cultures. The people involved in children’s lives and who help raise them, often include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and other community members who are all considered to be family.
As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child”.
